Fantastic experience: I spent 6 months at Cork English Academy and I can honestly say it was an amazing experience. The organization is impeccable and the teachers are truly top level. The staff at reception and in the office are always helpful, professional, precise and also very friendly, which makes a huge difference when you are living abroad. The principal is fun but at the same time very serious and professional about the quality of the school. His assistants, Louise and Chris, are absolutely fantastic and, honestly, among the best teachers I have ever had when I attended their classes. The school environment is clean, well organized and very welcoming. They also have a great social network and organize many activities to help new students meet people and enjoy the city, which is super important when you arrive in a new country. The prices are very fair for such a high quality of teaching and services. They are also open to dialogue: if something is not working for you, it is easy to talk to them and find a solution, but of course you also need to be serious and motivated. This is a real school and should be taken seriously, not just as a way to get a visa and stay in Europe. As an Italian student, I truly recommend this school, but honestly I would recommend it to anyone who really wants to improve their English. Fantastic experience: My Experience at Cork English Academy My arrival in the city of Cork was very pleasant. I arrived on a Friday, with my classes scheduled to begin on Monday. On the same day I arrived, I decided to visit the school to make sure I knew where it was and how to get there. Due to the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, my first class started on Tuesday with Professor Stephen, a highly qualified and dedicated teacher who made a great impression from day one. Thank you Edidh, Danny, Louise and Trevor, that made me feel comfortable and an enjoyable environment to learn. At Cork English Academy, new students start every Monday, and teachers follow the official coursebook closely, ensuring consistent progress. Every week, there’s a rotation of students and, every two weeks, a rotation of teachers. This methodology prevents monotony and promotes genuine cultural exchange, as the school welcomes learners from all over the world. During my time there, I had the opportunity to learn from several native Irish teachers and others from across the European Union, each bringing their own teaching style and personality, all aligned with the school’s solid educational approach. The administrative team also deserves recognition. The receptionists, Ella and Kerstin, were always friendly, attentive, and supportive, whether it was helping students open a bank account, recommending places to visit in Cork, or simply assisting when the coffee machine wasn’t working properly. Their professionalism and warm attitude made every interaction feel welcoming and sincere. The school’s facilities are outstanding. Located in the heart of Cork, it’s very convenient to reach, especially for those balancing work and study. The classrooms are spacious, bright, and clean, with excellent acoustics, all of which create a great learning environment. The student lounge and cafeteria are simple but functional, though there’s room for improvement to make this space even more comfortable and inviting. As for the management and administrative staff, they were always approachable and solution-oriented. Whenever questions or issues arose, they were quick to respond and genuinely committed to helping. Of course, not every day is perfect, but their willingness to assist and their professionalism make a real difference. The school also offers three weeks of holidays for eight-month courses, which allows students to make the most of their exchange experience, whether traveling around Ireland or simply taking time to rest and recharge. Although the school is not the cheapest option, every euro invested was absolutely worth it. The quality of education, the professionalism of the staff, and the multicultural environment together made my experience truly rewarding. Negative experience: I started at Cork Academy School for a short time, just four days, with high expectations of being well-served as a client. Since every school has a rule that requires students to purchase a textbook, I formally opted to purchase one upon starting classes. This meant I had to pay 50 euros for the book or through other means. I was indeed charged for starting my studies without the book on September 15th. However, due to financial issues that could affect many people, I informed the school by email, requesting their understanding that I would have to wait another week to purchase the book, as my payment would be due. They immediately mentioned the possibility of consulting student groups who could donate or sell used books. To my surprise, I received an email from the board and a follow-up message from the secretary, with the following responses: "Hi Tatiana, I hope you are well. I understand from my colleague that you still don't have a course book for your class. As mentioned in correspondence before your course started, if you don't have a book you will need to get one before starting classes. As you have now been in class for three days with out a book, you will be marked absent from tomorrow, Thursday, 18th September, if you don't have a book by then. You can source a book through us at reception, or you can buy a physical book from a friend, or from an online source, but you will need a physical book for the class. Thanks, Vincent." I respectfully reiterate in my response that I did not want to create any unpleasantness, and the reasons for now would be a financial condition at the time. The Board of Directors replied in quotation marks, "Hi Tatiana, Just to clarify my earlier email. If you don't have a book by tomorrow you will not be allowed to participate in the class. You will be asked to leave the class and as such you will be marked absent. Thanks, Vincent." I promptly continued searching for the book, asking for a maximum of one week to find or purchase it, and received another response via email from the secretary. "Hi Tatiana," I said. When you booked your course, you accepted that you would have a book for the course. That is a condition of attendance and it applies to all students. You will need to acquire a book or you will be excluded from class. You are not required to buy a new book from us; you can buy one secondhand from a student or by some other means, but you must have a book. Kind regards Catherine O'Connor The question is whether this is correct and cultural conduct for Irish schools that treat their customers, or rather, for Cork Academy School, which treats students who are still customers with terrible service. Being demanding doesn't mean having ethics and good manners to communicate with their customers, where their approach is very smooth when it comes to receiving our money, but when it comes to punctuality and understanding, they lack respect and impartiality. The school may have good infrastructure, but a poor relationship with even one client is my reason for not looking favorably on it. I'd be happy to make mistakes, leaving the facts and evidence to the contrary, which led to me being asked to leave the school, or even not even attend because I didn't have the book in hand at the time. Do they know what customer satisfaction is? What speaks louder? An institution's name, a dissatisfied student who built up all the expectations to enroll, or an arrogant principal who refuses to engage with a student. I will continue to report the facts on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.), since my feedback is irrelevant to the school. I believe they're capable of doing anything but serving a student well, which I'm sure makes no difference to them. It must be part of the institution's culture.

Fantastic experience: Llevo dos meses y medio estudiando en Cork English Academy, en horario matutino, y mi experiencia ha sido muy positiva. La escuela cuenta con profesores nativos capacitados, lo cual enriquece mucho el aprendizaje. Además, ofrece material adicional de autoaprendizaje y workshops extracurriculares, ideales para quienes desean seguir practicando fuera del aula. Las instalaciones son modernas, limpias y bien cuidadas, y el número máximo de estudiantes por salón es de 15, lo que permite una interacción adecuada entre estudiantes y profesor. He tenido la oportunidad de compartir clases con compañeros de diferentes nacionalidades, lo que no solo mejora la práctica del idioma, sino que también permite conocer otras culturas a través del inglés. Positive experience: Em relação ao pessoal da recepção/direção sempre tive suporte quando precisei. As instalações são boas, porém oque falta é um espaço para que os alunos possam esquentar a comida e comer normalmente (visto que teoricamente não pode consumir refeições quentes na área do break). Alguns professores não estão preparados para dar aula e não tem o mínimo de paciência e respeito com os alunos.

Negative experience: Terminei meu primeiro curso na Cork English Academy em dezembro/ 2024 e não recomendo a escola. Pagamos muito caro por esse sonho para termos professores despreparados, escola suja e administração que não está nem ai p bem estar dos alunos. É só ler os reviews, a administração sempre tenta colocar a ‘culpa’ nos alunos. A maioria dos alunos tiveram uma má experiência com um certo professor e era mandado e-mail a escola relatando todos os acontecimentos, a escola ao invés de tomar as devidas providências quanto ao professor, subiam os alunos de nível, totalmente despreparados para o nível seguinte. Um verdadeiro descaso. Se a escola já foi boa um dia, não é mais, infelizmente. Avalie outras possibilidades antes de fechar com essa escola.

Negative experience: Se você é brasileiro e está pensando em fazer seu intercâmbio nesta escola, cancele! Em Agosto/2024 tive o desprazer de fazer um intercâmbio de 3 semanas nesta escola. Minha experiência: Economizei meses para viver esse "sonho" em EURO e encontrei um escola que não se preocupa com os alunos, muito menos com seu aprendizado. O professor era extremamente rude, ficava nitidamente alterado quando os alunos faziam perguntas, respondia de forma agressiva/grosseira. O clima de desconforto na classe era notável e os colegas fingiam entender o assunto para evitar maior constrangimento. Isso mesmo, você paga para ser DESTRATADO. Quando lerem comentários parecidos aqui sobre esta mesma instituição acreditem (na época eu li e não levei a sério). Resumo: Você vai pagar uma nota para não entender nada e acabar estudando em casa com aulas no YouTube.

Negative experience: Mi etapa en Cork English Academy ha sido bastante variada. La realidad es que no tuve la mejor relación con las familias de acogida. En el transcurso de solo ocho semanas, me vi obligado a mudarme. La promesa de una inmersión cultural genuina resulta ser más un mito; parece que se prioriza el negocio en lugar de ofrecer una experiencia auténtica. Además, el gran esfuerzo económico que hice para amortizar al máximo la inmersión fue en vano. Por otro lado, el sistema de transporte público es un verdadero desafío. En ocasiones, hay que esperar hasta una hora por un autobús, y caminar podría llevarte casi tres horas. Si optas por un taxi, el costo oscila entre 30 y 40 euros. Yo residía en Carrigalaine y la cena se servía a las 18:00, lo que complicaba mi participación en varias actividades si no quería perderme la comida. Y cuidado, porque el menú se basa casi exclusivamente en pasta. Respecto a las clases, mi profesor carecía de paciencia y no adaptaba su método al nivel de los estudiantes. Esto convirtió algunas lecciones en un reto frustrante y difícil de seguir. Es fundamental que un buen docente ajuste su enfoque para satisfacer las necesidades de todos sus alumnos, algo que lamentablemente no ocurrió en mi caso. Un consejo importante: aléjate de las familias que no residen en Cork City y que tienen hábitos poco saludables como fumar y beber. En resumen, parece que quienes gestionan la acomodación en la academia se enfocan más en el bienestar de las familias que en el de los estudiantes, siempre encontrando justificaciones para sus decisiones.

Negative experience: Mi experiencia en Cork English Academy ha sido un tanto agridulce. Aunque he tenido la suerte de contar con excelentes profesoras, debo admitir que mi estancia con las familias de acogida ha sido negativa. En solo nueve semanas, tuve que cambiar de casa tres veces. No te dejes engañar por la idea de una inmersión cultural con las familias; esto es más un negocio que una experiencia enriquecedora. Además, la frecuencia de los autobuses deja mucho que desear, especialmente en invierno, cuando puedes llegar a esperar hasta una hora (caminar te tomaría casi dos horas, y un taxi cuesta entre 17 y 20 euros). Vivía en Glanmire, y la cena en la familia era a las 18:00 horas, lo que me impedía participar en muchas actividades si no quería perderla. Prepárate para comer pasta cuatro de los siete días de la semana. Un consejo: NO aceptes ninguna familia que no viva en Cork City. Además, ten en cuenta que si tu vuelo es antes de las 8:00 horas, tendrás que asumir el costo del taxi hasta el aeropuerto. Por último, parece que los encargados de la acomodación en la academia se preocupan más por el bienestar de las familias que por el de los estudiantes, ya que siempre parecen estar del lado de las familias o tienen una excusa para justificar sus acciones.

Negative experience: Hoje estaria finalizando a segunda semana de aulas e estou indo para a escola para cancelar minha matrícula. A escola em si é bonita e tem algumas coisas interessantes. Mas o suporte e as aulas em si não são bons. O professor nos trata com descaso e violência verbal. Tentando sempre dar carteirada de "Sou professor e posso fazer o que eu quiser". Grita com os alunos, não nos deixa terminar frases (quando estamos respondendo o exercício), fica rolando o olho pra cima como se cada erro que fizessemos fosse o fim do mundo. Ele realmente age como uma Mean Girl das escolas dos EUA que vemos em filme, é um terror a parte. Se você é mulher piora, porque ele realmente vai te tratar muito pior, prefiro nem entrar em detalhes Nessas duas semanas conversei com o coordenador trazendo feedbacks e o retorno que tive foi "conversei com o professor e ele negou tudo*. E como pode der visto em outros comentários aqui nas avaliações eu realmente não sou a unica a me sentir assim. Sem contar que ele coleciona várias reclamações formais de alunos de outras turmas, não só minha. Até agora eu aprendi uma palavra, plaster e só de resto só pressão psicológica, violência verbal e abuso de poder. Ah, e a aula é so correção de exercícios, pela metade, porque não podemos terminar de responder porque ele esta com tanta pressa de finalizar que responde em cima de voce mais rapido. É real um ambiente totalmente diferente do apresentado e você não terá suporte adequado.

Negative experience: The school does not have a cafeteria and it is forbidden to eat on site, as most students work and need to eat. The school does not have a minimum requirement to pass the level (A1, A2, B1, B2..), school with little cultural mix, does not encourage new activities. This school compared to others at the same price is much lower. I do not recommend

Another key point is that the CEA team is here to help you in the areas of teaching, registration, accommodation, social activities, administration, and marketing. Additionally, all teachers are native English speakers and university graduates with special qualifications to teach English as a foreign language. Finally, many members of the teaching staff have experience stretching over many years and have thought English language classes here in Ireland and in countries abroad.

Negative experience: They didn’t accept me because I have “Very good English” and there was nothing they could teach me. Is the most bizzarre argument I have ever heard. Which is understandable, yet they let me know 2 WEEKS before arriving. Flights, Work & bookings I had reserved and ready from months in advance. People: IS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS you can lose, check other options before risking your money.

Fantastic experience: It was a very good experience, I met friends of different nationalities with whom to practice English, my 3 teachers were very good and concerned about the class. The school And most importantly I learned a lot.

Negative experience: very poor customer service professional relations experience. English lessons in March 2020 for 2 months, stayed 1 week because of the coronavirus. No offer to take the courses like many other private schools, remotly by video. No refund despite emails and calls, over € 2000 prepaid. They offer a voucher but we have to repay the accommodation in full even if I stayed only a few days. Where does the hosting money go? If they don't want to reimburse why not offer valid alternatives? Has the coronavirus turned off the phones?

Positive experience: this school is very it looks well organised and reasonable price. but I can't enrol this school because they have their own policy. this is their policy that when it comes to renewing visa, you have to start a class on following fist Monday after visa expires. as well as that, you need enough time to issue school, insurance letters, so on. if you have short time until the start date, you can't sort it out never, ever, because this is their policy. If I had been informed of it, I wouldn't cancel my whole vacation plan. this school seems very nice as a monarch. I hope that it will be a good information for many international students who need to learn english. sincerely kind regards

Positive experience: İdealsas Yurtdışı Eğitim Danışmanlık olarak temsilciliğini yaptığımız okulları yerinde görüyor, sizin isteginize en uygun okulları öneriyoruz. Cork English Academy toplamda 17 sınıf ile güzel bir lokasyona sahip. Türk öğrenci yok. Okula 2 dk yürüme mesafesinde öğrenci yurdu sunuyor. Aile yanı standart olarak veriliyor ve okula ortalama 30dk mesafelerde. Geldik, gördük tavsiye ediyoruz

Fantastic experience: Not cheap BUT worth it! Now, more than half a year after i went to this school (for a short period of 2 weeks an C1 morning course), i thought back and asked myself: Did i ever give a proper "Thank you"? I have not so here it is: Thank you!!! Espacially to the teachers. One main teacher spacificly but unfortunatly and embarrassingly i forgot the name (maybe phillip? Looked typically irisch, has/had a beard and made the whole class laugh while tricking them into learning english). The Class was fun, i did learn A LOT, teachers were amazing! One could also register himself/herself for free afterclass activities (like going to a pub or sightseeing) or study courses. I hope i can come back one day! Best wishes, Judit
